One of Richard's work, very big one with lot of details to see. There's another diorama but i forgot to take picture, darn! ;( Anyway, here's more of this amazing dio.

CK and Richard shared with us about the techniques they use in creating a diorama. First of all, the idea of diorama is to show audience what's happening in the scene, so a proper planning of the scence is crucial before starting the work. Here's some of the area one should concern before building a diorama....
1. The story to tell
2. Composition of the diorama
3. Pictures/material for referance (esspecially for those historical scale model)
4. Material to use
________________________________________________________
1. Diorama should able to tell story on what happened or going to happen in the scence, informative in the mean time also imaginative.
2. Can be in flat or layered composition, the placement of the diorama should be well adjust without too much 'blank' area, or too 'packed'. A 'layered' diorama means that the dio is include with building, valley, river etc are more interesting and give some 'life' to the dio.
3. Reference can be get either through internet or books, reference are important as it give you the information on how a real things look like.
4. Materials use for diorama range from household stuff to aftermarket kits/models.
Base: The base of the diorama can be make from photo frame, wood, trophy stand, even flower pots, follow one's creativity.
Groundwork: If the groundwork is suppose to be soil, then the best material to use is dirt and soils itself. Different soils got different texture n it build different terrain.
Building: Polystrene or scale houses also can be use. Before painting a polystrene, it should be 'seal' with plaster/white glue/arcylic paint.... anything which is not errosion for polystrene (even superglue melt the poly) In my own opinion, if u not sure the paints/material will errode poly or not, try few drop of it on poly. That's how i do.
Vegetation: Herbs (Oregano, thymes, etc), tea leaf, plants root (small), tobacco, grass, etc. suitable to make tree, grass, and lawn.
others: Anything of ur householf can be use for dio. Cereal box, spices, herbs etc. is suitable for dio too.

Above are summarise i make of what CK and Richard had discussed about. Hope you guy understand and benefit from it. Stay tuned for coming workshop.
